Hitler: The Last Ten Days

The film "Hitler: The Last Ten Days" depicts the final days in Adolf Hitler's life as observed by Hauptmann Hoffmann, an officer in the SS assigned to duty in the Führerbunker. Based on the book by Gerhard Boldt, it shows a bleak look at the goings-on within and without the bunker, including Hitler's increasing desperation, frustration, and paranoia as the Allies close in. Alec Guinness convincingly portrays Hitler, who refuses to acknowledge reality, makes plans for ethnic cleansing, and ultimately kills himself after being driven further into despondency by news that his generals had betrayed him.
