Rope of Sand

In this 1949 adventure-suspense film noir, Burt Lancaster stars as Michael (Mike) Davis, a man driven by determination after being forced to abandon his treasure in South Africa. Paul Henreid plays Commandant Vogel, a domineering policeman tasked with preventing diamond smuggling. When Davis returns to retrieve the lost diamonds, he faces off against the cunning mine manager Arthur 'Fred' Martingale (Claude Rains), who hires a beautiful prostitute, Suzanne Renaud (Corinne Calvet), to seduce him and get him to reveal the secret location.
