The Emperor Waltz

A brash American gramophone salesman, Virgil Smith (Bing Crosby), travels to Vienna, Austria, hoping to sell a gramophone to Emperor Franz Joseph, whose endorsement could boost its popularity among the Austrian people. There, he meets Countess Johanna Augusta Franziska von Stolzenberg-Stolzenberg (Joan Fontaine) and her father, Baron Holenia, who are celebrating their black poodle Scheherazade's successful mating with the Emperor's poodle. As Virgil tries to convince the Emperor to buy a gramophone, romantic sparks fly between him and Johanna, as well as between their dogs, Buttons (Virgil's white Fox Terrier) and Scheherazade.
