A married couple, Arthur Mason (Eli Wallach) and Gerrie Mason (Julie Harris), struggle to save and rehabilitate their teenage daughter, Maxie Mason (Deborah Winters), from a life of drug addiction, as they fight to repair their imperfect marriage amidst the challenges of raising a troubled child.
