The Ninth Gate

Dean Corso, a New York City rare book dealer hired by wealthy collector Boris Balkan, travels to Europe to authenticate three copies of "The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows", a 17th-century book said to be able to summon the Devil. Corso is shadowed by a mysterious woman, nicknamed "Green Eyes", and becomes embroiled in a cat-and-mouse game with Balkan and other figures involved in a sinister occult cult.
