In post-war London, sailor Dan MacDonald (Bonar Colleano) is approached by a gang of criminals to smuggle stolen diamonds out of the country. As he tries to evade capture, he forms an unlikely friendship with Pat, a young white woman played by Susan Shaw, and her Jamaican friend Johnny Lambert (Earl Cameron), who becomes deeply affected by Dan's fate. The film follows their intertwining storylines as they navigate racial prejudices and the complexities of human connection in the city.
