Illustrious Corpses

A detective is assigned to investigate the mysterious murders of some Supreme Court judges. The film starts with the murder of Investigating Judge Varga in Palermo, amongst a climate of demonstrations and political tension between the Left and the Christian Democratic government. Inspector Rogas seeks out three men wrongfully convicted by the murdered judges, and finds his likely suspect in Cres, a pharmacist who was convicted of attempting to poison his wife. As Rogas delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a web of corruption and deceit that leads him from the highest echelons of government to the dark underbelly of Sicilian politics.
