In Depression-era Alabama, six-year-old Scout Finch lives with her older brother Jem and their widowed father Atticus, a respected white middle-aged lawyer who decides to defend a black man falsely accused of rape, Tom Robinson. As the trial exposes the children to the evils of racism and stereotyping, they become increasingly entangled in the case, learning about injustice and intolerance. Meanwhile, a reclusive neighbor, Boo Radley, sparks their imagination with mysterious gifts, leading them on a journey of curiosity and growth.
