Alan Bates as Sergei Diaghilev and George De La Pena as Vaslav Nijinsky struggle with his homosexuality and the allure of a young ballerina, Romola de Pulsky (Leslie Browne), who seeks to draw him away from his domineering lover. As Nijinsky's career and personal life begin to unravel, he becomes increasingly obsessed with Romola, leading to a tragic descent into mental desintegration.
