Janet Suzman

Biography

Dame Janet Suzman DBE was born on February 9, 1939, in Johannesburg, South Africa, to a Jewish family with notable connections to politics and civil rights. She trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company, where she reprised many Shakespearean roles on television after her early film debut as Empress Alexandra Feodorovna in Nicholas and Alexandra (1971).
