The 47 Ronin

The 47 Ronin is a historical drama film based on the true story of a feud between Lord Asano and Lord Kira, which ultimately led to an attack by Asano's vassals on Kira's residence, killing him and his followers. The film follows Ōishi Kuranosuke (Chōjūrō Kawarasaki) as he leads 46 rōnin in a quest for revenge against Kira, who was responsible for the dishonour of their Lord and the ruin of Asano's family. After two years of planning, the rōnin stage an attack on Kira's residence, resulting in his death and the restoration of honor to the Asano clan through Ōishi's sacrifice. The film explores themes of loyalty, vengeance, and the code of conduct that governed samurai society.
