Deep Water

On the island of Jersey, off the French coast, Isabelle Huppert's character Mélanie, a beautiful woman gifted with a captivating personality, enjoys having unimportant love affairs that her husband Jean-Louis Trintignant's character Vic, a perfumer, seems to endure with total indifference. When she brings home yet another lover, Vic researches the man, finding that he is a private investigator hired by Mélanie to keep an eye on him. After bludgeoning his cover, Vic kills the private investigator, then later kills another man, Carlo Canelli, played by Christian Benedetti, who was brought home by Mélanie. The investigation into these mysterious deaths concludes with Mélanie's reconciliation with Vic after she realizes he has killed two men to get closer to her.
