Blood on the Moon is a 1948 RKO black-and-white "psychological" Western film noir starring Robert Mitchum as drifting cowboy Jim Garry, who finds himself in the middle of a conflict between a cattle owner and some homesteaders after receiving a job offer from his old acquaintance Tate Riling. He meets John Lufton's daughters, Amy and Carol, and uncovers Riling's plot to dupe Lufton out of a fortune, leading him to choose between his old loyalties and what he knows to be right. With the help of Kris Barden, Garry must navigate the treacherous situation and ultimately protect Amy, whom he comes to fall in love with.
