Chaplin in Bali

In 1932, Chaplin, in full midlife crisis, escapes to Bali in search of himself to find artistic rejuvenation and inspiration to make his difficult transition to sound film. The island, where he is almost unknown to the inhabitants, becomes a haven of peace for him, allowing him to find inspiration in the traditional Balinese dances that he films on location. Fascinated by the serenity of life in Bali, Chaplin finds solace in the island's culture, which helps him overcome his fear of sound and launch into a new phase of his career as a filmmaker.
