The Princess of Montpensier

Set amidst the intrigues of Catherine de Medici's French court in 16th Century France, this follows young Marie Mézières, played by Mélanie Thierry, who is set to marry Henri de Guise from the powerful Guise family when her father does a deal and promises her to Philippe de Montpensier instead. This sets the families Guise and Montpensier at each other's throats and leaves Marie in a loveless marriage with a man she doesn't even know, much less like. The film is mixed fiction and history, set against the backdrop of the bloody conflict known as the Wars of Religion.
