Hit the Deck

During "Operation Ice Cream" at a U.S. Navy reservation in the Arctic, buddies Danny Xavier Smith and Rico Ferrari are exempted from a swimming lesson to bake a birthday cake for the commander, who may select them to go home if they impress him. When their plan backfires and the commander is delighted but then angry when his birthday cake combusts, the three friends find themselves transferred to "Operation Mud Pie" in a snake-infested swamp. Meanwhile, Danny reunites with his sister Susan and meets dancer Carol Pace, who becomes the object of his affection, while Bill returns from shore leave to find his fiancée Ginger has broken up with him and is dating another man. After a series of misadventures, the sailors eventually clear their names and find love.
