In 1944 Nazi-occupied Poland, Erik Lehnsherr is separated from his parents and discovers his mutant ability to generate magnetic fields. In the present day, Senator Robert Kelly attempts to pass a "Mutant Registration Act" in Congress, while Charles Xavier concerns himself with how Lehnsherr will respond. Rogue and Wolverine are brought into conflict between two groups: X-Men, led by Xavier, and the Brotherhood of Mutants, led by Magneto.
