Miss Evers' Boys tells the true story of the US Government's 1932 Tuskegee Syphilis Experiments, in which a group of black test subjects were allowed to die, despite a cure having been developed. The film follows Nurse Eunice Evers (Alfre Woodard) as she becomes aware of the lack of treatment for the involved men, many of whom are her close friends. Despite this, she is sent around town to tell people that the government is funding their treatment, all while knowing that they will soon be part of a study that requires them to go without real treatment. The film ultimately tells the story of Caleb Humphries (Laurence Fishburne), one of the test subjects who tries to expose the truth after being cured during World War II.
