Two vaudeville performers, Jo Hayden and Harry Palmer, set their sights on Broadway's Palace Theatre just as America is about to enter World War I, leading them to a whirlwind romance that becomes increasingly complicated by the draft and the realities of war. When Harry intentionally injures himself to avoid military service, he finds alternative ways to serve his country by entertaining front-line troops, ultimately earning him bravery and recognition. After the war, they reunite on stage for a poignant reunion song, rekindling their love amidst the chaos of war and show business.
