Love and injury in time of war. Attilio de Giovanni teaches poetry in Italy, but his romantic soul is put to the test when Vittoria, a coworker and writer he's been pining for, travels to Iraq with her friend Fuad, just as the Second Gulf War breaks out. When Vittoria is injured, Attilio must embark on a perilous journey to Baghdad to save her life. As war rages around him, he must navigate his own feelings and find a way to bring her back from the brink of death.
