Ewan McGregor stars as Oliver Fields, a 38-year-old graphic designer who meets Anna Wallace (Mélanie Laurent), a French actress with laryngitis, at a costume party in Los Angeles. Inspired by his father Hal's (Christopher Plummer) attitude towards life after coming out, Oliver pursues a romance with Anna, and they develop feelings for each other. As their relationship deepens, Oliver reflects on his complex relationship with his father, who was openly gay after Georgia, his wife of 44 years, died of cancer, and explores life as an openly gay man from the age of 75 until he passed away.
