Interlude

In the lush landscapes of Germany and Austria, a tangled web of love and desire ensnares an American woman, Helen Banning, in a torrid affair with the married symphony conductor, Tonio Fischer. Her tumultuous romance is mirrored by the struggles of his mentally ill wife, Reni, who will stop at nothing to reclaim her husband's affections.
