Il Grido

Aldo, a mechanic working in a sugar refinery in Northern Italy, flees his town after being rejected by the woman he loves, Irma. Devastated and struggling to find steady work that accommodates his daughter's schooling, Aldo embarks on a journey through the Po Valley, only to find himself disillusioned with the world around him. He eventually finds solace in a new relationship with Virginia, but ultimately loses her and returns to Goriano, where he meets Irma once more and makes a fatal decision that leaves the town in shock.
