A bloody tale of a Norse warrior's battle against the monstrous Grendel unfolds in this 2005 fantasy adventure film. Beowulf leads a troop of warriors to rid a village of the marauding monster out of allegiance to King Hrothgar. The film stars Gerard Butler as the titular hero, with Stellan Skarsgård and Ingvar E. Sigurðsson playing key roles in the Norse mythology-inspired story, which deviates from the original poem's plot to include new characters and elements.
