The Final Chord

Hanna Müller, a German woman who gave up her infant for adoption to emigrate to America, returns to Germany and discovers that her child is being raised by married orchestra conductor Erich Garvenberg, his wife Charlotte. Hanna goes to the orphanage where her son Peter is living, and later becomes a nanny for him, growing close to him through their love for the boy. As the story unfolds, Charlotte's dark secrets are revealed, leading to tragic consequences that test Hanna's character and ultimately allow her to find happiness with Erich Garvenberg, who hires her as a nanny after she informs him about his wife's affair and death.
