In 1933 Imperial Japan, a geisha's life is one of glamour and turmoil, as she navigates the complexities of her relationships and the cutthroat world of Yōkirō, Japan's most successful Geisha house. Behind its opulent facade, this iconic institution has long been marked by bitter battles between family members, men and women, and with powerful forces like the Yakuza. Based on a novel by Tomiko Miyao, "Yōkirō" is a poignant drama that explores the struggles of its protagonist, Momokawa, who rose to become Osode's top geisha despite her troubled past.
