Leadbelly

Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter (Roger E. Mosley) is a young man fleeing his father's house after a firearms charge and an unwanted pregnancy. He becomes a musician at a brothel on Fannin Street in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he meets its madam, Miss Eula. In prison, he uses his music to gain attention, including from Governor Pat Neff, who assures him of a pardon before leaving office. After release, Leadbelly returns home only to find it taken over by a white family, leading to a violent confrontation that lands him back in prison.
