The Life of Matsu the Untamed

"Matsugoro" is a poor rickshaw driver whose optimistic demeanor makes him a favorite in the town. He helps an injured boy, Toshio, and is hired by the boy's parents to drive them. The film explores themes of father figure, drunkenness, feudal Japan, unattainable desire, and meiji period. Ryūnosuke Tsukigata plays a meaningful role as Matsugoro, bringing his animated spirit and kindness to the character.
