Farewell to the King

In "Farewell to the King," Nick Nolte stars as Learoyd, an American soldier who escapes execution by Japanese soldiers in Borneo during WWII and finds himself adopted into a head-hunting tribe of Dayaks, whom he becomes the unlikely king. After resisting British soldiers' urging to rejoin the war against Japan, Learoyd is drawn back into conflict when his own tribe is threatened. Set against the backdrop of World War II, this action-adventure drama explores themes of loyalty, freedom, and justice in a story that juxtaposes the brutal realities of war with the innocence and savagery of the indigenous people.
