Rick is a screenwriter living in Los Angeles, haunted by his life's emptiness. He finds temporary solace in Hollywood's decadence and encounters with women, who bring him closer to finding his place in the world. His brother Barry's death serves as a catalyst for Rick's journey, leading him on an odyssey through Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
