In a searing and stylish exploration of identity and mortality, "Nelly" reimagines the life of Nelly Arcan, a high-class prostitute by choice, whose colorful existence is woven from multiple narratives: the neurotic writer, the vulnerable lover, the call girl, and the star. Based on some of Arcan's own writings, including her book Putain, this biographical-drama film delves into the contradictions of Arcan's life, where elegance and brutality coexisted, and explores the enduring question: who was Nelly Arcan?
