Two Stage Sisters

In pre-revolutionary China, two young girls, Zhu Chunhua and Yuehong Xing, rise through the ranks of Chinese opera, navigating a tumultuous landscape marked by feudal exploitation, war, and social upheaval. As they achieve artistic success, they face new personal and social challenges that test their values, loyalties, and identities. Against the backdrop of Japan's occupation and China's struggle for independence, Chunhua and Yuehong must confront the harsh realities of a patriarchal society and find inspiration in the emerging ideals of the May Fourth movement.
