The Detective is a 1968 American neo-noir crime drama film starring Frank Sinatra as Det. Sgt. Joe Leland. A homosexual man is found mutilated and murdered, and Leland identifies the perpetrator and coerces a confession out of him. With the suspect tracked down, Leland must navigate his own marital issues with Karen Wagner (Lee Remick) while dealing with the complexities of a case that involves official corruption in NYC, homophobia, and a world of sex and drugs.
