In this surreal period film, director Seijun Suzuki weaves a complex web of relationships and mortality among three men, each entangled in a dance of love, loss, and death. A professor and his nomad friend, Nakasago, become embroiled in a romantic triangle with a mourning geisha named Koine, who bears an uncanny resemblance to one of the men's wives. As they navigate their desires and destinies, Suzuki masterfully explores themes of identity, aging, and the blurring of reality, crafting a film that is both hauntingly beautiful and morally ambiguous.
