The Cuckoo

In September 1944, a chained Finnish sniper-kamikadze Veikko is forced to fight on behalf of his captors in a German uniform, only to escape and find himself stranded at a Sami woman's farmhouse. There, he meets Ivan, a Soviet soldier accused of treason, who has also been wounded and brought to the farm by the same woman, Anni. The three form an unlikely bond as they navigate their differences, language barriers, and wartime hostility, leading to passionate relationships and a surprising understanding between former enemies. As the war draws to a close, Veikko is gravely injured, but Anni's nurturing care brings him back from the brink of death, while Ivan finds love and redemption in the process.
