Leslie Brooks plays Claire Cummings Hanneman, a society journalist who marries wealthy men and has them mysteriously die. On her honeymoon in Los Angeles, Claire writes a love letter to her former lover Les Burns, which her new husband Carl discovers, leading him to divorce her. Claire hatches a plan, using her connections to cover her tracks, and rekindles her romance with Les. However, she continues to manipulate those around her, including her latest lover Stanley Mason, an attorney running for Congress, before ultimately killing him as well.
