The 2008 Romanian comedy-drama film "Nunta mută" (Silent Wedding) tells the story of a young couple, Iancu and Mara, who are forced to marry in silence after Soviet leader Joseph Stalin dies the night before their wedding ceremony in 1953. The film begins with a team of journalists investigating strange events in an abandoned town, where they meet the elderly mayor and the few remaining inhabitants, including Mara, played by Meda Andreea Victor. As the story unfolds, the villagers decide to proceed with the "silent" wedding, but it quickly transforms into a lively celebration despite their vow of silence.
