John Wayne stars as Jacob "Big Jake" McCandles, a tough old rancher/gunfighter who is estranged from his family and spends his days roaming the west with his trusty dog. When his grandson is taken hostage by a ruthless gang of kidnappers, Big Jake swings into action with his two sons and an elderly Apache friend, preferring to do things the old-fashioned way.
