In 1930s France, two American sisters who possess the ability to interact with the dead meet a visionary producer while performing in Paris, setting off a chain of events that will change their lives forever. The film follows Laura and Kate Barlow as they become entangled with French film producer Andre Korben, whose fascination with the spiritual world leads him to convince investors to film a séance, despite its unconvincing portrayal on camera. As tensions rise and anti-Semitism threatens to upend Korben's life, the sisters must navigate their complicated relationships and the fragility of reality, all while dealing with Kate's terminal illness and Laura's growing unease with her brother's motivations.
