In "Montparnasse 19," the last year of Amedeo Modigliani's life is told through a poignant portrayal of his struggles as an artist and his doomed love affairs. The film follows Modigliani's tumultuous relationships with writer Beatrice Hastings and art student Jeanne Hébuterne, who inspire some of his most famous paintings, against the backdrop of poverty, illness, and bohemian excess in 1919 Paris. As Modigliani's fragile health gives out, he must confront the harsh realities of commercial failure and mortality, leaving behind a legacy that will be rediscovered years later by wealthy collectors.
