Le capitaine Fracasse

In 17th-century France, a ruined Baron Philippe de Sigognac finds himself swept up in a troupe of traveling actors led by Herod. Enchanted by their world and particularly the ingénue Isabelle, he takes on a new identity as "Captain Fracasse" and becomes increasingly smitten with her. As rival suitors try to claim her hand, including the cunning Duke of Vallombreuse, the troupe perseveres in its quest for justice, ultimately leading to a union between Sigognac and Isabelle that transforms their lives forever.
