In ancient Judea, a Jewish aristocrat opposing Roman occupation of his homeland reunites with his childhood friend, now a Roman commander — setting in motion a saga of betrayal, adventure, tragedy, revenge, and faith. The epic film, directed by William Wyler, is based on Lew Wallace's 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ and boasts an impressive scope and storytelling that earned every award it received, including a record eleven Academy Awards.
