The Fallen Idol

The young son of an ambassador, Philippe, idolizes his father's butler Baines, who keeps him entertained with tales of his adventures. However, Philippe's perception changes when he discovers a secret kept by Baines and witnesses the consequences of adults' lies. Terrified after witnessing his stepmother's death, Philippe is confused and suspected by Detective Ames, who uncovers evidence that challenges Baines's story, including a crucial footprint on the window ledge. Ultimately, Baines confesses the truth to Philippe, but it's too late, leaving the young boy resigned to having been lied to from an early age.
