Kings of the Road

Bruno Winter (Rüdiger Vogler), a projection-equipment repair mechanic, travels along the Western side of the East-German border in a repair truck, visiting worn-out movie theaters and encountering various people in states of despair. Alongside Robert Lander (Hanns Zischler), a depressed doctor who has just survived a half-hearted suicide attempt after his break-up with his wife, Bruno learns to communicate across their differences.
