A Handful of Dust

In this 1988 British drama, English aristocrat Tony Last welcomes tragedy into his life when he invites John Beaver to visit his vast estate, unaware that his wife Brenda is secretly carrying on an affair with Beaver in a series of bedroom assignations in London. When Tony's world unravels after Brenda reveals her infidelity and requests a divorce, he embarks on a haphazard journey to South America, only to find himself stranded in the Brazilian jungle, where he is held captive by an illiterate settler who forces him to read Charles Dickens' novels aloud for eternity.
