Sorrowful Jones

A young girl named Martha Jane is left as a marker for Sorrowful Jones (Bob Hope), a notorious bookie, after her father loses a bet. When her father disappears, Jones learns to care for four-year-old Martha Jane, who was left with him as collateral, and must evade gangster Big Steve Holloway (Bruce Cabot) while also evading his own financial troubles. With the help of his ex-girlfriend Gladys O'Neill (Lucille Ball), Jones navigates this unexpected challenge and ultimately helps Martha Jane find a loving home.
