On the eve of June 28th, 2011, Swedish journalists Martin Schibbye and Johan Persson embarked on a perilous reporting mission in Somalia, driven by a desire to expose the dark side of the oil industry's impact on the isolated Ogaden region. Their fate took a devastating turn when they were captured and shot by the Ethiopian army five days later, only to find themselves trapped in a Kafkaesque nightmare - a trial that would sentence them to eleven years in prison for terrorism. Behind bars, they joined forces with fellow prisoners who had also faced persecution for their unyielding voices, forming an unlikely community of writers, journalists, and politicians fighting to survive within the notorious Kality prison in Addis Ababa.
