The film "Elephant Walk" is a 1954 American drama about Colonial tea planter John Wiley (Peter Finch) and his new wife Ruth (Elizabeth Taylor), who moves to Elephant Walk Bungalow in Ceylon with its grudge against the plantation. The local elephants pose an ominous threat, while Ruth's isolation and her husband's imperious behavior create tension at home. As a cholera epidemic hits the district, Ruth serves as a relief worker, and Appuhamy (Abraham Sofaer), the principal servant, confesses his feelings for her.
