Salome's Last Dance

Oscar Wilde and his lover Lord Alfred "Bosie" Douglas arrive late on Guy Fawkes Night in 1892 at their friend Alfred Taylor's luxury brothel, where they are treated to a surprise staging of Wilde's play Salome, public performances of which have just been banned in England. The play is performed by prostitutes and clients, with each person playing two roles, one in the brothel and the other in the play, as King Herod begs his young stepdaughter Salome to dance for him. The scenes from the play are interwoven with images of Wilde's exploits at the brothel, where a private performance is given, including a special dance by a young actress who ultimately meets a tragic end.
