Dragnet

LAPD Sgt. Joe Friday (Dan Aykroyd), nephew of the famous police sergeant, is paired up with a young, freewheeling detective named Pep Streebeck (Tom Hanks). After investigating some strange robberies at the local zoo and the theft of a stockpile of pornographic magazines, they uncover cult activity in the heart of the city. They infiltrate a secret ceremony, witness a masked leader's plan to sacrifice Connie Swail (Alexandra Paul), and eventually corner and arrest Reverend Jonathan Whirley (Christopher Plummer), who is revealed to be the mastermind behind the cult. The duo, led by Captain Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan) with the help of Pep Streebek's former narcotics unit contact, commandeer a tank to raid a milk pasteurizing plant that was actually hiding evidence of the cult's sinister plans.
